Happy International Dog Day!
International Dog Day was created by animal advocate, Colleen Paige, in 2004 to encourage people to adopt dogs from rescue shelters. The holiday celebrates all breeds and raises awareness for dogs who need loving homes!
How to show your support:
Volunteer at a local shelter
Find a shelter near you and apply to be a volunteer! Local shelters are always in need of volunteers. Most applications are on their website and are easy to fill out. You will also get to meet all of your local dogs who need homes and get to know them while helping out your shelter! Here are some shelters in Columbia, SC:

Donate to charities/organizations for dogs

In addition to monetary donations, local shelters also accept dog food, treats, bedding, kennels, and lots of other pet supplies.
Adopt a dog
